Hello,
My name is
Gail Sayers and I’m the District 17 NWOSTA Volunteer Coordinator. I
would like to welcome you to the VOLUNTEER PORTION of our District website.
There are a number of ways you can volunteer for your local clubs, here are a
few examples:
If you are
not the outdoorsy type, there are a number of opportunities from:
-
selling tickets at events
-
helping decorate a float for the Santa Claus parade
-
serving breakfast at the clubhouse
-
organizing an event (Poker Derby, Snowarama)
-
event planning
-
landowner program
-
trails committee
-
club website
-
club newsletters
-
email to members
-
posting club events
-
just to name a few.
If you are the outdoorsy type,
you could help with:
-
signing and brushing of trails
-
lake staking
-
Often new bridges have to
be built or a trail rerouted and that requires a lot of help.
-
There is the Trail Patrol
Program where you act as an ambassador for the club
-
and last but not least Driver Trainer where you educate youngsters on the
rules and regulations, the trail signs and hand signals so they can become
great snowmobiler drivers.
These are just some examples of
many jobs that may need to be filled. Every club is unique!
There is a
great deal of satisfaction that comes with being a volunteer. You become a
member of a great team where there are hundreds of people just like you who
come forward to help snowmobiling the sport that it is today! You will make
new friends, and maybe even go for a ride to places you’ve never been
before, thanks to your new snowmobiling buddies. It doesn’t matter what
age you are, whether you are married or single, there is a place for you
here, you are all welcome. It’s not all work and no play. We do have
lots of fun and there are numerous rewards for giving of your time. The
biggest reward is knowing that you have contributed.
Come have fun
and share your talents with us! Just remember that “EVEN A DAY IS OK!” Come join the team that makes a difference.
Sincerely Yours,
Gail Sayers
District 17 Volunteer Coordinator
