NWOSTA Update

Permits are available from your club or local permit outlets. Information regarding the Price of Permits can be found at www.nwosta.ca/costofpermits.pdf

This year, we have classic permits for sleds 15 years & older for half the price of a full season permit.  These permits are only available through the district office. Application is available online. Please remember to attach a copy of your MSV registriation with your application and mail your cheque to the NWOSTA office. Price is only $125.00.

The trail map is published once a year and covers all trails for our district.  We encourage businesses who are near to a snowmobile trail to advertise on our map. If you are interested in advertising on our annual Trail map please contact our office at 807-937-2137.

Volunteers are needed for all clubs. Some work involves trails need to be packed before they can be groomed, lake markers to be put in and taken out, and some brushing needs to be done. If you would like to volunteer, please contact your local club or the NWOSTA office. Sometimes its only a day or a few hours, but your assistance is greatly appreciated. High school students can receive volunteer hours for their assistance.

"The reason volunteers are not paid is because their contributions are priceless", stated Bruce Robinson, Past Co-Chair of the Volunteers In Action Committee and the new President of the O.F.S.C. No other organization in the world has more dedicated or enthusiastic volunteers than the snowmobile clubs in Ontario. Today's snowmobile clubs require many different skills compared to what was needed fifteen or twenty years ago. Although outdoor work on the trails - cutting brush, installing signs and building bridges are still large parts of a snowmobile club activity, increasing demands on the administrative side of the clubs functions has brought volunteers into our fold with specialized computer, financial, writing and human resource skills. The Volunteers In Action Committee has been formed to help the clubs recruit and train volunteers to preserve the future of organized snowmobiling. Please contact your local club to offer your skills.

Canadian Snowmobile Code of Ethics

I understand and accept the risks associated with snowmobiling and I will take responsibility for my own actions.

As a responsible snowmobiler, I will.....

  • Ride in a manner that is a credit to our recreation
  • Influence other snowmobilers to adhere to this code of ethics
  • Respect the rights of others, including property owners and other outdoor enthusiasts
  • Protect and preserve our natural environment
  • Ride in a responsible manner and I will use only the marked trails; areas or roads open to snowmobilers
  • Not harass or harm wildlife or the natural surroundings
  • Minimize my impact on the environment
  • Ride smart, be prepared and stay in control
  • Check ice and weather conditions before riding
  • Help those in distress
  • Obey all laws and rules governing our recreation
  • Promote proper snowmobile education and training
  • Practice zero tolerance with respect to impaired driving.

Many are thinking - do we want to buy a brand new snowmobile or do we look at a new "used" one instead? We can help. We have created an option for snowmobilers thinking about buying their first snowmobile or adding an additional machine.

sleds2buy.com is seeing tons of potential buyers "kicking the tires" to see what is on sale and available in their part of the country. But, we need more inventory. To make this happen, the CCSO Team developed a plan which is designed to assist sellers. Sleds2Buy.com will allow you to post in a new way - now only "Pay When You Sell". That's right! Sleds2Buy is looking for your sled, ATV, Trailer, Groomer or whatever you have to sell. Simply go on line, post your contact information, add your photos, and then only "Pay When You Sell"!

Sleds2Buy.com is the best place to post your snowmobile if you want it SOLD. Created by snowmobilers for snowmobilers. Sleds2Buy.com can be accessed from every Provincial Snowmobile Association Website ensuring real market pricing while reducing the time to sell it. The nominal $30 charge is payable only when your sled sells. And, money goes back into the trails.

Sleds2Buy.com has become the most targeted classified for buying and selling sleds and the first to return real money back into our trails with each sled sold. "Pay only when it sells" pricing allows riders to experience the network risk-free while supporting their association. Key advantages of Sleds2Buy.com over other classifieds include: Visitor statistics, no deadlines for information updates, sales flyers and unlimited price changes.

Sleds2Buy.com "pay only when you sell pricing" is available now. For more information, visit  www.sleds2buy.com

Sleds2Buy.com announces No Charge Trial Dealer Accounts to let dealers "experience for themselves" the true value of the network as compared to other "traditional" media and prove without doubt that Sleds2Buy.com is the most effective classified network in the country.

Effective November 26, 2008, posting to the Sleds2Buy.com network (and the entire itoys2buy.com network) is free or no charge for a two month trial for any dealer in Canada. There is no catch, no contract to sign. Dealers can post 10 units online (and rotate out sold units too) for 60 days and the normal value rate of $150/ month will be waived.

The concept of selling snowmobiles on exclusive snowmobile websites is a better way to connect buyers with sellers and a proven cornerstone of the entire 2buy.com network. By offering a snowmobile exclusive classified, dealers can effectively price their inventory, while reducing the time to turn it. Snowmobile dealers would never try to sell "TVs" or "AUTOS" out of their showrooms, so why would they expect to find "snowmobile buyers" in classified books or websites that are dominated by so many other non-snowmobile related products?

Sleds2Buy.com was created by snowmobilers for snowmobilers. The CCSO understands that dealers also sell other recreational products. Sleds2Buy.com is linked to several power sports networks including motorcycle2buy.com, quad2buy.com and iboats2buy.com all offering industry leading design and functionality. Visitor statistics, sales flyers and unlimited price changes are just a few of the many software benefits to the network as well as one Sleds2Buy.com account, allows dealers to advertise "any type of product" across the network with the same no charge account, making Sleds2Buy.com the best choice for today’s economy.
